As part of the National Crime Prevention Strategy, the Wynberg Cluster undertook an integrated Crime Prevention Operation. The Operation took place on Wednesday, 2015-05-06, in the vicinity of Ocean View. The main focus of the operation was to root out criminal elements in the area.
The operation took the format of high visibility foot and vehicle patrols, stop and search, vehicle check points, tracing operations, execution of search warrants and the searching of identified outlets suspected of dealing in illegal trading.
The operation netted the following successes:
- 206 Vehicles stopped and searched
- 124 persons searched
- 12 Premises searched
- 49 Fines traffic related fines issued to the value of R 59 500.00
One person was arrested for possession of drugs.
During the Tracing Operation police arrested 10 persons who were being sought on the following charges:
- Attempted Murder
- Housebreaking & Theft
- Malicious Damage to property
- Assault Common
- Failure to appear in court.
All arrested suspects will make a court appearance in the Simons Town Court today, 8 May 2015.
