An accident on Higginson Highway before Bay View off-ramp in Havenside, Chatsworth has left one person dead and four injured.
Reports from the scene indicate that a fourteen-year-old female pedestrian was knocked over by a motor vehicle. The motor vehicle then veered off the road and crashed against a tree.
Netcare 911 paramedics and other services arrived at the scene and found the vehicle came to a standstill against the tree and sustained severe frontal damage to the front of the vehicle.
The young pedestrian was found lying on the ground and upon assessment found that she had sustained critical injuries during the pedestrian accident. The injured girl was treated at the scene and rushed to hospital for the urgent medical care that she required.
Upon assessment of the occupants of the motor vehicle, paramedics found that the driver had sustained serious injuries, the male passenger of the vehicle tragically lost his life and two children seated in the back of the vehicle sustained minor to moderate injuries during the crash.
The three injured occupants of the vehicle were treated at the scene and transported to hospital for further medical care.
