Early morning taxi crash leaves 15 injured in Durban

Fourteen taxi commuters have been injured two seriously so after the taxi they were in was T Boned before overturning coming to rest on its side on Sarnia Road near Edwin Swales just before 7am this morning.

Rescue Care paramedics arrived on the scene to find the taxi on its side with all the passengers lying on the side of the road. More ambulances were dispatched to assist in the multiple injury scene. On assessment it was found that fourteen taxi passengers had been injured with two occupants sustaining serious injuries. These two were stabilized by Rescue Care’s Advanced Life Support paramedics on the scene. The driver of the other vehicle had also sustained minor injuries caused by the collision. Once all of the injured had been stabilized on the scene they were transported to various Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required.

At this stage it is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.

Traffic was severely affected as the onramp from Edwin Swales to Sarnia Road was closed whilst emergency personal worked to clear the scene.
