Five injured in two vehicle collision, Durban

Five people were injured this morning after a bakkie and light motor vehicle collided on the N2 near the M1 highway in Durban South.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on scene and found the light motor vehicle parked on the side of the road while the bakkie lay at the bottom of the large embankment.

On scene paramedics found five patients that lay scattered. On assessment, paramedics found that three patients had sustained serious injuries while two others had sustained moderate injuries.

Paramedics stabilised and treated the patients for their injuries before they were pulled up the embankment to the awaiting ambulances.

Shortly after treatment, all the patients were transported to a nearby hospital for further medical attention.

It is understood that two patients were standing on the back of the bakkie when the collision occurred.

The cause of the collision is under investigation by local authorities.
