Multiple injuries in taxi collision

At least ten people were injured this evening after a taxi and light motor vehicle collided on the Grayston Road Bridge in Sandton.

When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene, they found the taxi and light motor vehicle in the middle of the road. Both vehicles had sustained heavy damage in the collision.

When ER24 paramedics assessed the scene, they found fire services busy using the jaws-of-life equipment to free the trapped taxi driver. Another service had already transported an unknown amount of patients prior to the arrival of ER24 paramedics.

On assessment, paramedics found a further five patients, including the trapped taxi driver, had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate.

Once freed from the vehicle, paramedics treated the remaining patients on scene for their injuries and thereafter tranaported them to various hospitals for further treatment.

The driver of the light motor vehicle fortunately did not sustain any injuries.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
