One killed, three injured in morning commute on the R82 near the Grasmere turn-off

One man has been killed and three others injured this morning after a vehicle rolled on the R82 near the Grasmere turn-off in Eikenhof, south of Johannesburg.

Paramedics from the ER24 Johannesburg South branch arrived on scene to find the light motor vehicle upright, far off to the side of the road.

On assessment, paramedics found that the driver and front passenger of the vehicle had been ejected, while the two passengers in the back were found lying next to the vehicle.

Paramedics found that the male patient that had been ejected showed no signs of life while the female lay in a critical condition.

Paramedics began resuscitation and provided the patient with advanced life support interventions in a 30 minute operation. Unfortunately no signs of life returned and the patient was declared dead.

The critically injured patient was treated for her injuries and provided with advanced life support and was thereafter transported to Lesedi Hospital for urgent medical treatment.

The remaining two patients were found to have sustained moderate injuries in the collision. They were treated for their injuries and thereafter transported to Baragwanath Hospital for further observations.

The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
