Two people were injured after a truck overturned on the R603 at Mkhambathini about forty kilometres from Camperdown this morning. Exact detail to the cause of the accident is still speculative however, the truck veered off the road and overturned, the twisted frame coming to rest on its side.
Netcare 911 paramedics and the fire department arrived at the scene and found that two people had sustained serious injuries, one was still trapped in the twisted frame of the truck while the other was found at the side of the roadway. While firemen worked tirelessly for ninety minutes using the Jaws of Life to extricate the patient, medics clambered into the wreckage to stabilise the man.
After medics treated the patients and deftly immobilised them on trauma boards, they transported them to a hospital in Amanzimtoti for the care that they required.
