Three people were injured following an accident on the R51 near the R50 in Bapsfontein, towards Delmas last night.
Netcare 911 paramedics and other services arrived at the scene and found that a heavy goods vehicle and motor vehicle were involved in the accident.
Upon assessment of the occupants from both vehicles, paramedics found that two people had sustained serious injuries, while the third person was found to have sustained critical injuries.
The two seriously injured patients were treated at the scene and transported to hospital for further medical care.
The critically injured was also treated at the scene and rushed to a nearby hospital for the urgent medical care required. The Netcare1 helicopter was then activated to airlift the critically injured patient from the hospital. The patient was airlifted to a level one trauma facility for the specialised medical care required.
Exact detail surrounding the cause of the crash and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
