A man tragically died while twelve others were injured, one seriously so, after a taxi overturned along Spine Road in Westville this afternoon at around midday. A report from the scene indicates that the taxi was traveling down spine road and while rounding the bend to turn towards Westville prison he veered off the road and overturned.
Netcare 911 paramedics and other services arrived at the scene and found that the crumpled remains of the taxi had come to rest down an embankment about twenty meters from the roadway, the driver absconded from the scene before our arrival.
After triaging the injured medics found that a man had tragically died due to the extensive injuries that he sustained, one person was seriously injured while eleven miraculously escaped with minor injuries. After medics stabilised the injured commuters at the scene they transported them to various hospitals for the care that they required.
