One killed, two injured in Vanderbijlpark collision

One person was killed and two others sustained several injuries when a Golf GTI overturned several times this morning on Westinghouse and Playfair Boulevards in Vanderbijlpark.

Shortly after 5am paramedics from ER24 Vanderbijlpark arrived on the scene where they found the vehicle lying on its roof approximately 70 meters into a residential property. It is believed the vehicle overturned several times coming from the traffic circle and crashed through a residential wall.

Upon further assessment they [paramedics] found a person trapped in the vehicle with fatal injuries. Unfortunately there was nothing that paramedics could do for him and he was declared dead on the scene. One of the occupants was found a few meters away from the vehicle with serious injuries. It is understood that he was pulled out of the vehicle by bystanders prior to paramedics’ arrival. Another occupant was found walking around on the scene with moderate injuries.

The injured were stabilised on the scene and later transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

The SAPS attended the incident. The exact cause of this incident is not yet known.
