Raslouw accident leaves two injured

Two people were injured following an accident on the R55 near Ellman Street in Raslouw, Centurion this morning.

Netcare 911 paramedics and other services arrived at the scene and found a pedestrian injured near the intersection and a motor vehicle that overturned several times and came to a standstill down the embankment next to the roadway.

Reports from the scene indicate that a pedestrian was knocked over by a motor vehicle, after which the motor vehicle overturned several times and came to a standstill on the field area next to the roadway.

Upon assessment of the occupants from the vehicle, paramedics found that a three-year-old boy was ejected from the motor vehicle during the accident. They found the boy lying on the ground in a critical condition. The Netcare1 helicopter was activated to airlift the critically injured  boy to hospital for the urgent medical care that the required. The female driver of the motor vehicle sustained minor injuries during the rollover accident.

Upon assessment of the pedestrian, paramedics found that he had sustained serious injuries during the pedestrian accident. After receiving treatment at the scene, the injured man was transported to hospital for further medical care.

Exact detail surrounding the cause of the pedestrian accident and rollover accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
