One person has died and five people have been injured after a T Bone collision on Sydney Road and Frank Road in Umbilo just after 04:30am today.
Rescue Care Paramedics arrived on the scene to find the two badly damaged vehicles in the roadway. Three people were entrapped in the wreckage with one of them being the driver. Paramedics worked together with the Durban Fire Department to free the severely entrapped occupants. Unfortunately the driver of the one vehicle had sustained fatal injuries and there was nothing that could be done for him and he was declared deceased on the scene. The remaining four patients were stabilized on the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital for the further care that they required.
At this stage it is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating the incident further.
