One person has been killed and seven others injured two seriously so after a partial head on collision on Lansdowne Road in Wentworth just before 7am today.
Rescue Care paramedics arrived on the scene to find that a truck and a car had collided in a partial head on collision. They immediately requested assistance of more ambulances and the Durban Fire Department. They found that the car driver had unfortunately suffered severe injuries and there was nothing paramedics could do to assist him. He was declared deceased on the scene.
The passenger from the car as well as one of the occupants of the truck had sustained serious injuries and Advanced Life Support paramedic stabilized them on the scene before transporting them to a nearby hospital. Five other occupants of the truck sustained minor injuries and were also transported by Rescue Care to a nearby facility.
At this stage it is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
