30 injured in collision between two taxis in Durban

Thirty people have been injured after two taxis collided on the M4 South bound near M7 off ramp just after 2:30pm today.

Rescue Care paramedics arrived on the scene to find total chaos. Two fully loaded taxis had collided in a rear end collision. One person was found severely entrapped in the front seat of one of the taxis. Advanced Life Support paramedics worked to stabilize him before the Durban Fire Department used the jaws of life to free the trapped man. More ambulances were called to assist in the multiple patient scene. A total of thirty patients had been injured and once all of the injured had been stabilized on scene they were transported to various Durban hospitals for the further care that they required.

At this stage it is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS will be investigating further.
