A child is in a critical condition following an accident on Benoni Road near Evans Road in Benoni Small Farms this afternoon.
Exact detail surrounding the cause of the accident and preceding is still unclear and will remain the subject of a police investigation. However, reports from the scene indicate that the child was riding his bicycle when he was knocked over by a vehicle.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the child lying on the ground and bystanders busy performing CPR on the child. Paramedics continued with resuscitation and as soon as vital signs were noticed, the critically injured child was rushed to hospital, under the constant care of an advanced life support paramedic, for the urgent medical care that he required.
The bicycle was found to have broken into three pieces as a result of the impact.The occupant of the vehicle was not injured during the crash.
