An 11-year-old girl was killed this morning after she was hit by a light motor vehicle on Sunstone Place in Copesville, Pietermaritzburg.
ER24 paramedics were called by security services, and on their arrival, they found the patient lying in the middle of the road. A light motor vehicle had stopped a short distance away.
On assessment, paramedics found that they patient had already succumbed to her multiple fatal injuries. Nothing more could be done for the patient and she was declared dead on scene.
The driver of the light motor vehicle fortunately did not sustain any injuries.
It is understood that the driver did not notice the young girl cycling in the middle of the road.
Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
