Crash 10km north of Port Shepstone leaves four people dead

Paramedics and Emergency Services on the KZN south coast have responded to a tragic crash on the N2 highway, between Umtentweni and Hibberdene, about 10km north of Port Shepstone.

The crash involved a bus, bakkie, SUV and car. The crash left all of the light motor vehicles severely damaged. The crash scene was spread out over about 250m metres of the high way and the high way had to be closed for several hours, while the scene was being cleared.

Sadly four people (three females and a boy, estimated to be in his early teens) have been killed in the crash and seven people have been injured. Two of the patients were critically injured and five patients had sustained serious injuries. Fortunately several people on board the bus were not injured.

The patients were transported to several hospitals in the area including Port Shepstone hospital for continued medical care.

The road was closed between the Umtentweni and Hibberdene interchanges, for several hours, while the police started investigations into the cause of the crash, which is not yet known and while the scene was cleared.
