Four people have been left injured, one of them seriously so in a high speed collision between a light motor vehicle and a double cab bakkie on the N2 near to the popular Sibaya Casino this afternoon.
Eyewitnesses allege the driver of the bakkie lost control at high speed, causing it to spin across the roadway, colliding with the light motor vehicle.
The driver of the bakkie sustained serious injuries and intermediate life support intervention was needed to stabilize him before he was placed onto a specialized stretcher and transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for the care he required.
Three others sustained minor to moderate injuries and were treated on scene before being taken through to various receiving nearby hospitals for further care.
Traffic was severely affected as emergency services attended to the scene during the busy peak traffic hour.
The local authorities were on scene and will investigate further.
