Suspects operating breakdown vehicle arrested in possession of Metro Police and EMS hand radios

Criminals in Browns Farm, Nyanga felt the presence of Operation Fiela during the early hours of this morning when a contingent of police and law enforcement officers were deployed in this area, notorious for violent crimes.

The search-operation, during which 633 persons and 171 residences were searched, was directed at all illegal activity, but also to create a safer environment for the law abiding citizens of this area.

Vehicle check points resulted in 65 vehicles being searched and admission of guilt fines to the tune of R76 700-00 being issued. An arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol was also effected. One female was arrested for selling liquor without a license, two male suspects operating a breakdown vehicle were arrested for being in possession of Metro Police and EMS hand radios, one male suspect was arrested for the possession of 3kg dagga and a male was arrested on an outstanding warrant of arrest. Two minibus taxi were impounded for operating illegally and 109.5 litres of alcohol were confiscated.

We are pleased with the outcome of our endeavours so far and will soon return to this area for more crime fighting initiatives and to ensure safer communities.
