Two people have tragically died and three others were injured, one seriously so, after two vehicles collided head on along the Rosemead Main Road in Umkomaas this evening at around 17h39. Reports from the scene indicate that the errant party crossed into oncoming traffic before hitting another vehicle, exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.
Netcare 911 paramedics the fire department and provincial services arrived at the scene and found the roadway to be littered with accident debris and the twisted frames of the vehicles. The damage was consistent with that of a high impact collision. The two drivers were still trapped in the wreckage and tragically died due to the extensive injuries that they sustained.
Three people miraculously escaped from the wreckages , one with serious injuries and the other two with minor injuries. Paramedics treated the injured at the scene before transporting them to a local hospital for the care that they required.
