Scottburgh R102 road crash leaves one seriously injured

A female holidaymaker from Pietermaritzburg was seriously injured in an accident along the R102 in Scottburgh late last night. Exact detail to the cause of the accident is still speculative and will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.

Netcare 911 paramedics and their rescue unit arrived at the scene and found that the vehicle had veered off the road and slammed into a tree, the female was still trapped in the twisted frame of the vehicle. While the rescue officer used the Jaws of Life to free the seriously wounded female, medics had to clamber into the wreckage to stabilise her.

Once medics had immobilised her on a trauma board they removed her from the wreckage and transported her to a local hospital for the care that she required.
