A woman was killed this evening after she was hit by a light motor vehicle on the R57 Golden Highway in VanderbijlPark.
ER24 paramedics responded to the scene, and on arrival, found the body of a female lying roughly 30 metres away in the slow lane of the highway.
On assessment, paramedics found that the patient had already succumbed to her multiple, fatal injuries. Unfortunately nothing more could be done for the patient and she was declared dead.
The driver and passenger of the light motor vehicle fortunately escaped without injury.
It is believed that the driver failed to notice the pedestrian crossing the highway.
Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
