13 injured , 1 killed in early morning accident Durban

One person has been killed and thirteen people have been injured two seriously so after a head on collision just before 5am on Inanda Road near Sea Cow Lake this morning.

Rescue Care paramedics arrived on the scene to find a head on collision between a taxi and a bakkie with both vehicles severely damaged in the roadway. Paramedics found that the one person had suffered fatal injuries and there was nothing further paramedics could do. He was declared deceased on the scene. The bakkie driver was entrapped in the wreckage and the Durban Fire Department used the jaws of life to cut the man free. A further twelve people from the taxi suffered injuries ranging from minor to moderate and were stabilized on the scene before being transported to various Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required.

At this stage it is unclear exactly what caused the collision however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
