Krugersdorp crash leaves four injured

Four people were injured after a Polo and a Land Cruiser collided along Voortrekker Road in Springfield’s Krugersdorp this afternoon at around 13h00. Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events is still speculative and will remain a subject for police investigation.

Netcare 911 paramedics their rescue unit and the Krugersdorp Fire department arrived at the scene and found that the Bakkie had collided into the passenger side of the polo trapping a female in the wreckage. After triaging it was found that the female passenger was in a critical condition while three others including a child were seriously injured.

While the Netcare rescue officer and the firemen used the Jaws of Life to free the female medics clambered into the vehicle to stabilise her. After she was extricated they airlifted her with the Netcare one medical helicopter to a specialised facility for the care that she required. The seriously injured patients were treated at the scene before they were transported to various hospitals for further medical care.
