R509 Magaliesberg crash leaves baby critically injured

A rollover accident on the R509 about twenty kilometres from Magaliesberg has left three people injured, one critically so. A report from the driver is that the tyre burst just before the vehicle overturned. Exact detail however will still remain a subject for police investigation.

Magaliesburg fire and ambulance service arrived at the scene and requested the Netcare Helicopter to assist with a critically injured baby at the scene. Netcare 911 Paramedic arrived at the sceneĀ and found that the mom and a one-month old baby that was in her arm had been ejected from the vehicle., while dad and a four-year-old boy had clambered out the wreckage when the fire service arrived. After triaging the injured it was found that baby was in a critical condition while mom and the four-year-old escaped with minor injuries, dad was the driver and escaped without any injuries.

After paramedics stabilised the injured at the scene they airlifted the baby with the Netcare one helicopter to a specialised facility for the care that he required. Mom and the four-year-old was transported by the provincial ambulance service to the same hospital for the care that they required.
