Six-year-old boy killed in collision on Vaal Drive in Vanderbijlpark

A six-year-old boy has been killed this morning following a collision on Vaal Drive in Vanderbijlpark.

ER24 paramedics were called to the scene by members of public and immediately responded.

On arrival, paramedics found a light motor vehicle lying on the side of the road next to a tree. It is understood that the vehicle had rolled multiple times and then crashed through a wall.

On assessment, paramedics found a six-year-old boy lying inside the vehicle with no signs of life. The male driver sat outside his vehicle in a serious condition.

Paramedics removed the child from the vehicle and immediately began their treatment and CPR interventions. After 25 minutes of CPR, the child vital signs returned.

The male driver was treated for his injuries and both patients were transported to hospital for urgent treatment.

Unfortunately, the child succumbed to his multiple injuries shortly after arrival at Mediclinic Emfuleni.

The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
