P200 Izotcha crash leaves two critical

Thursday afternoon at around 15 h 00, Netcare 911 received a call for  a crash on the P200 in Izotcha. Reports indicate that a bakkie transporting schoolchildren was involved in the collision with a heavy goods truck. Exact detail to the cause of the crash and preceding events will remain a subject for investigation.

Netcare 911 paramedics and other services arrived at the scene and found the severely crumpled remains of the bakkie and accident debris obstructing the roadway, the driver of the bakkie was still trapped in the wreckage and sustained life-threatening injuries. Medics found that an eight -year-old-boy  had sustained critical injuries while two other children miraculously escaped with minor injuries.

While firemen used the Jaws of Life to free the critically wounded man, medics clambered into the wreckage to stabilise him. Netcare 911 advanced life support paramedics and her crew  stabilised the critically wounded boy while yet another service treated the two children with minor injuries.

After all the injured were treated at the scene and the driver was placed on a manual ventilator,  they were transported to various hospitals for the care that they required.
