A child tragically died while the father sustained serious injuries in an accident on the Simon Vermooten Road Bridge this morning at around 00.20. Reports from the scene indicates that the mother was traveling behind the father and child and witnessed them collide into a truck. Exact detail to the cause of the crash however will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found that the two-year-old-child had tragically died due to the extensive injuries sustained, the father was in a serious condition. After the man was stabilised at the scene they transported him to a nearby hospital for the care that he required.
