R603 head on crash leaves nine injured

On Friday night at around 18h15 Netcare 911 paramedics received a call for a head-on crash on the R603 in the Mkhambathini area . Exact detail to the cause of the crash and preceding events is still speculative and will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.

Netcare 911 paramedics and their rescue unit arrived and found that a bakkie-taking people to work collided head on with a light motor vehicle, one of the injured was still trapped in the wreckage. While the Netcare rescue officer used the Jaws of Life to free the seriously wounded man, medics had to clamber into the wreckage to stabilise him, eight other patients were found next to the roadway with serious injuries.

Paramedics treated the injured on scene before transporting them to various hospitals for the care that the required.
