Last night at around 20h30 there was a crash on the N3 highway near the Shongweni off ramp.
It is believed that an SUV overturned and that two other vehicles were involved in the crash. Sadly four people passed away at the scene of the crash. KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health Emergency Medical Services ambulances came across the accident scene and worked frantically to treat the injured. Those who have passed are believed to be members of the same family and consisted of a man, a woman and two children, one of them a two year old child. The EMS paramedics tried to resuscitate the two year-old with CPR, but unfortunately, the child didn’t respond to the treatment.
Three people, who had all sustained serious injuries, were treated at the scene before being transported to hospital by KZN EMS paramedics.
The exact circumstances leading up to the crash are being investigated by the police.
