Ford Wins Two Rental Industry Awards from SAVRALA

Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (FMCSA) claimed two prestigious rental industry awards during the SAVRALA Manufacturer of the Year (MOTY) gala ceremony held in Sandton.

The 20th annual MOTY awards function, which highlights the top-performing vehicle manufacturers competing in the crucial vehicle rental business, saw Ford win the ‘Value Award’ which was introduced for the first time this year.

“The rental industry is a crucial part of the business for all local vehicle manufacturers, and to win the Value Award reinforces the commitment Ford has made to produce top quality vehicles that offer exceptional value for money and low cost of ownership,” says Dawid van der Merwe, Fleet Operations Manager, FMCSA.

“These factors are key considerations for all fleet purchasers, whether for corporate or rental fleets as well as for individual buyers.”

The Ford Figo, Fiesta, and Ranger are all strong contenders in the rental industry due to their outstanding quality, value and low running costs.

In addition to the corporate awards, the MOTY 2015 event also acknowledged the role of certain individuals in the car rental industry. David Maeko, Ford’s Fleet Business Manager, won the Best Account Executive award.

Maeko has been with Ford for 19 years, specialising in the fleet business more than 10 years and in the rental business since 2011.

Founded in the 1970s, SAVRALA is the trade body representing companies in South Africa’s car rental industry.
