Goodyear provides noise reducing technology to Mercedes

Goodyear is pleased to announce a technologically advanced tyre fitment to the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.

The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class moulds the perfection of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class with the exclusivity of Maybach. Some features distinguish these vehicles from production models including lavishly designed, prestigious interiors. The exclusive design of this vehicle requires a technologically advanced tyre to enhance the already smooth and enjoyable ride.

The vehicle is fitted with Run on Flat Goodyear EfficientGrip in size 245/45R19 102Y XL for front axle fitment and  275/40R19 101Y rear axle fitment and Run on Flat Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 in size 245/40R20 99Y XL front axle fitment and 275/35R20 102Y XL rear axle fitment. All of these fitments are MOE marked to indicate tyres built by Goodyear for Mercedes. The unique aspect about these fitments is the SoundComfort Technology that is integrated into the tyre.

Goodyear’s SoundComfort Technology features an open-cell polyurethane foam element attached to the inner surface of the tyre. The technology dampens the Tyre Cavity Resonance (TCR) sound peak, generated when the tyre rolls over a surface, by up to 11dBA and enables a vehicle interior noise reduction of up to 4dB, making the vehicle cabin significantly quieter across a large range of vehicle speeds.

The new technology is designed to make the overall driving experience more pleasant, helping drivers and passengers better enjoy their journey in a quieter environment, perfect for luxurious journies in vehicles such as the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.

Tracy Maclear, Marketing & Brand Manager for Goodyear South Africa said: “SoundComfort Technology is an innovation that we launched in 2014. With more demand for quieter drives as well as a higher demand for vehicles such as the Mercedes Maybach S-Class, the technology provides significantly reduced noise levels to those travelling in the vehicle.

“As car manufacturers such as Mercedes continue to perfect their vehicles, noise reduction has become an integral part of their drive to improve overall driver comfort and we are pleased to be able to offer this market-leading technology to Mercedes,” Maclear concludes.
