Man killed on N2 pedestrian collision

A man believed to be in his twenties has been killed when he was struck by a light motor vehicle whilst attempting to cross the busy N2 highway this afternoon.

Crisis Medical paramedics arrived on the scene on the N2 south bound in the vicinity of the M25, shortly after 15h30, to find the man lying in the roadway having suffered critical injuries.  On further examination it was discovered that the man was in a state of cardiac arrest. Advanced life support intervention was quickly administered and a lengthy effort of cardio pulmonary resuscitation attempted. However the man sadly succumbed to his injury and was declared dead on scene.

The driver of the vehicle involved did not suffer any injuries.

The facts pertaining to the incident are not clear and will form part of a South African Police Services investigation.

Traffic was severely affected as emergency services worked to clear the scene and the necessary authorities were on scene to assist.
