On Saturday morning at 08h16 the Netcare rescue unit was dispatched to a head-on collision along Hole-in-one Avenue in Ruimsig Roodepoort. Reports from the scene indicate that one of the vehicles slid on an oil patch from another crash a few meters away. Exact detail however will remain a subject for police comment.
The Netcare Rescue one arrived at the scene and found that the man was still trapped in the twisted frame of his bakkie that was wedged under the front end of a truck. While the rescue officer used the Jaws of Life to extricate the patient, the paramedics clambered into the wreckage to stabilise the man.
The patient was treated at the scene before medics transported him to a nearby hospital for the care that he required.
