The Minister of Transport, Ms Dipuo Peters has issued a directive to all traffic law enforcement officers to be on high alert, show no mercy and adopt a zero tolerance to traffic law infringers.
The Minister’s directive includes violations regarding drivers who are caught driving on high speed. These drivers should not be given an option for bail and their names should be publicised.
These directives will intensify the already announced plans to have a highly visible traffic law enforcement patrols on all known hazardous routes, with roving law enforcement operation in hotspots including built-up areas such as suburbs, townships and villages.
