Stock thieves arrested by Bethlehem K9 Unit

A suspect, wanted for stock theft, was found hiding in a cane field on Thursday morning, 17 March 2016.

Constable Mbele and Constable Motaung of the Bethlehem K9 Unit were called to the farm Bronfontein in Reitz after Police attempted to arrest the suspect for Stock Theft.

The suspect was hiding under grass when Constable Mbele and his dog, Kayli, a trained Patrol Dog managed to find him. According to Constable Mbele, the dog led him straight to the suspect who was not visible due to the grass he was hiding under.

The dog started barking and the suspect immediately surrendered.

The suspect was arrested and a case of stock theft is currently being investigated by the Detectives. Five sheep to the value of R12 500-00 were recovered.
