T-Bone collision leaves mother and daughter seriously injured

Yesterday evening just after 6pm EMER-G-MED paramedics were dispatched to reports of a serious collision on the corner of Atlas and Geldenhuys Roads in Bonaero Park, east of Johannesburg.

On arrival paramedics found that a car had been T-boned by a bakkie at a high speed.

The mother and daughter in the car were left seriously injured, with the child being in a critical condition.

Paramedics immeadiately began stabilising the child using multiple Advanced Life Support interventions and putting the child on a ventilator – while the Netcare 911 Dedicated Trauma Air Response Team was called in to assist.

Once stabilised the child was airlifted by the Netcare1 aeromedical helicopter to a specialist trauma hospital south of Johannesburg.

The mother who sustained moderate to serious injuries was transported by road to a nearby hospital.

Local authorities were on-scene to investigate further.
