One killed in road crash in Franschhoek

Please note only one person was killed in the collision.

One person was killed and three others sustained several injuries when two vehicles collided with each other on Wemmershoek Road in Franschhoek.

Shortly after 10pm paramedics from ER24 as well as Metro Rescue and Fire Services arrived on the scene where they found both vehicles off the road. Upon assessment they found that one person sustained fatal injuries. There was nothing that paramedics could do for them and they were declared dead on scene. One person was found with critical injuries and two others with serious injuries.

Rescue services had to use the jaws of life to free some of the trapped occupants from the vehicles. Once freed, the patients were stabilised and transported to Paarl Provincial Hospital for further care.

The exact cause of the collision is not yet known.
