Six people have demised in a serious road crash in the UMgungundlovu district at the corner of Lynwood and Sweetwater’s road, just after 8am this morning.
Paramedics from the Department of Health’s Emergency Medical Services, as well as paramedics from local private ambulance services and EMS services, responded to the crash.
They arrived on scene to find that a minibus and light motor vehicle had collided. The minibus had reportedly also overturned following the initial impact.
Paramedics worked together to triage and treat 12 people who had sustained injuries in the crash. Of the injured, eight patients had sustained serious injuries, while four patients had only sustained minor injuries.
Once the patients had been stabilised at the scene they were transported to several local health institutions for continued medical care.
The exact cause of the crash is not known at this stage and will be investigated by the police
