Elderly female falls from cliff near Margate

On Wednesday afternoon Netcare 911 paramedics responded to an informal settlement near Margate for a female that had fallen from a cliff. Reports indicate that an eighty-six-year-old female was walking at the edge of a cliff in the Kwanositha location near Margate when she slipped and fell a 140 meters down a steep slope.

Medics arrived at the scene and found it impossible to access the patient, they called for the Port Shepstone Police search and rescue unit to recover the patient from the cliff. Once the patient was hoisted to the top of the mountain, medics found that she sustained serious injuries. The patient was treated at the scene before they transported her to a local hospital for the care that she required.
