A man in his late 30s was left in a critical condition this evening after he was hit by a bakkie on Kingsway Road in Amanzimtoti.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found both the patient and bakkie in the slow lane of the road. Lifeguards that had witnessed the incident were busy assisting the patient.
On assessment, paramedics discovered that the man had sustained serious injuries to his pelvis and legs and was in a critical condition.
Paramedics took over treatment and provided the patient with advanced life support interventions. He was thereafter transported to Prince Mdhiyeni for further treatment.
The driver of the bakkie fortunately did not sustain any injuries.
The exact details are not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
