Two taxis collide leaving 20 injured, Diepsloot

It is believed that 20 people were injured this morning following a two taxi collision on the R114 in Diepsloot, north of Johannesburg.

ER24 paramedics, along with various other services, arrived on the scene shortly after 07h30. On arrival, paramedics found two one taxi had t-boned another and had come to rest on the side of the road. The occupants from bot taxis were found seated around their vehicles.

Paramedics began to triage the patients and found that roughly 20 people had sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious.

Paramedics treated the patients and provided some with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the patients were transported to various hospitals, including Thembisa Hospital, for further treatment.

It is understood that the driver of the one taxi failed to notice the oncoming taxi as he turned onto the main road.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
