This morning the Netcare 911 Rescue officer was called to a collision on the M13 east bound lane near Westville. Reports from the scene indicate that the driver veered off the roadway and collided with a concrete block. Exact detail to the cause however will form part of the South African police investigation.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the male driver still trapped in the wreckage with serious injuries. The Netcare 911 rescue officer used the Jaws of Life to extricate that patient while medics clambered into the wreckage to stabilise him. After immobilising the patient on a trauma board, they removed him from the twisted frame and the transported him to a nearby hospital for the care that he required.
