A 17-year-old motorbike rider was seriously injured this morning while he was taking part in an off road event near Fochville.
Shortly before 11am paramedics arrived on the scene where they found the teenager being attended to by event medics. He sustained multiple injuries including a possible head injury. The ER24 Medical Helicopter was called to the scene to assist and airlift him to Mediclinic Sandton for further treatment.
It is not clear how he was injured during the event. While paramedics were assisting the young man, three other patients were brought through to the medical station. They sustained moderate injuries. It is understood that they were also participants in the race. They were transported to The Fountains Hospital (Leslie Williams Hospital).
