12 Injured in taxi rollover on the corners of Richards and Suttie, in Midrand

This morning EMER-G-MED’s RV3, M06 and A06 responded to reports of a taxi rollover on the corners of Richards and Suttie, in Midrand – north of Johannesburg.

On arrival paramedics found that a taxi had collided with a number of vehicles before it overturned – allegedly after it’s brakes failed.

Twelve people were injured, with one patient being in a critical condition after sustaining a a serious head injury. The critical patient was intubated and placed on life support before being rushed to a nearby specialist trauma hospital under Advanced Life Support care for further treatment.

The remaining patients sustained minor to moderate injuries and were also treated on-scene before being transported to various nearby facilities.

Local authorities were on-scene to investigate the exact events leading up to the collision.
