3 Injured 1 killed in head- on crash on Victoria Embankment onramp

Three people have been injured and one person has died after a head on collision on Victoria Embankment onramp to the M4 South just after 3:30pm Tuesday.

Rescue Care Paramedics arrived on the scene to find that a taxi and a truck had collided head on, on the onramp to the M4 South. Both the driver and passenger were severely entrapped in the taxi. One passenger sitting in the rear also sustained serious injuries. All three patients required Advanced Life Support intervention. The Durban Fire Department and Netcare911 Rescue unit worked together to free the trapped patients whilst Paramedics worked to stabilize them. Once all had been stabilized and freed they were transported to various Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required. Unfortunately shortly after arriving at hospital one of the patients passed away due to the severity of his injuries he had sustained.

The truck driver sustained minor injuries and was also transported to a nearby hospital for the further care that he required.

At this stage it is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
