Car rolls off the R30 in Welkom injuring four

Four woman, believed to be in their 20s, were injured this morning when their vehicle rolled off the R30, roughly 35km from Welkom in the Free State.

ER24 paramedics were driving along the R30 when they happened to come across the incident.

A light motor vehicle was found lying on its side on the side of the road a short distance away from the road.

On assessment, paramedics found that one woman’s legs were partially pinned beneath the vehicle. The three other woman were found outside of the vehicle.

Paramedics were able to free the woman from beneath the vehicle and began their assessment. The woman that had been pinned had sustained serious injuries while the other women had sustained moderate injuries.

All four patients were treated and transported by ER24 to Mediclinic Welkom for further treatment.

It is believed that the driver swerved for an animal that had apparently run in the road.

Local authorities were on scene to investigate further.
