Eight people were injured after their vehicle overturned on the Klipheuwel Road in Fisantekraal, Cape Town

Eight people were injured last night after their vehicle overturned on the Klipheuwel Road in Fisantekraal, Cape Town.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 19h45 and found a bakkie lying at the bottom of a small embankment. Some of the occupants from the bakkie were found next to the roadside while the remaining occupants were found next to their bakkie.

ER24 paramedics assessed the patients and found that five adults and three children aged between 2 and nine, had been injured in the collision.

One man had sustained serious injuries while the other patients had sustained minor to moderate injuries, including the children.

The patients were treated for their injuries while the seriously injured patient was provided with advanced life support interventions.

Once treated, the patients were transported to Tygerberg and Groote Schuur Hospital for further treatment.

It is believed that the driver lost control of the bakkie after one of the tyres apparently burst. This caused the bakkie to roll down the embankment, ejecting most of the patients.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
