Five injured in head-on collision on the R511 between Diepsloot and Dainfern

Five people were injured this morning after the bakkie they were travelling in was involved in a head-on collision on the R511 between Diepsloot and Dainfern, north of Johannesburg.

Just after 8am EMER-G-MED’s RV6, M01, A01 and A11 as well as other services were dispatched to the scene.

Paramedics arrived to find the two badly damaged vehicles lying in the middle of the road. The driver of the car was found walking around, uninjured. The driver of the bakkie sustained serious injuries and his lower limbs were entrapped underneath the vehicle’s crumpled dashboard. Paramedics together with the fire department extricated the entrapped patient using the jaws of life.

Four other passengers from the bakkie were found lying on the roadside with minor to moderate injuries.

The patients were treated on-scene before being transported to a nearby hospital for further assessment.

It’s alleged that a taxi suddenly braked in front of the car, the driver then swerved to the right – colliding with the bakkie.

JMPD were on-scene to investigate the exact events leading up to the collision.
