On Sunday afternoon at 16h12 Netcare 911 paramedics responded to a multi-car pileup on the R573 near the Zebra Country Lodge in Kwa Mhlanga. Exact detail to the cause of the accident is still speculative and will form part of the police investigation. Reports however indicate that four vehicles collided head-on.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the roadway obstructed with accident debris and the twisted frames of the vehicles. After triaging the vehicle occupants it was established that ten people were injured, three seriously so.
Paramedics stabilised the injured at the scene before they transported them to various hospitals for the care that they required.
